WHY DO I NEED A FREE INSPECTION BEFORE I CAN GET A FIRM PRICE QUOTE?
The reality is that every home is different, some homes have challenges that are unique other homes, and some homes have a much simpler solution. We do not have a one size fits all approach when it comes to our pest control methods (Those days have come and gone). Years ago pest control companies used to be able to fill up a 50-gallon tank of a single pesticide and literally soak down the exterior of a home killing off everything it touches. Those products and methods of yesterday are obsolete because of the harm that they posed to the environment, as well and the negative impact that broadcasting those products in that manner have on beneficial insects. We embrace prescription treatments meant to target the pests, all while protecting your home, family, and environment. When we come out to inspect your home we are ensuring that we are delivering the right services for your home. Different homes and different people require different levels of service. Your home may only be dealing with ants and exterior roaches only. If this is the case you may only need our basic pest package. If you are dealing with these issues as well as a spider problem you may want our Silver Package which includes our spider treatment, that also includes wasps. There are also other insects on your property that may need special attention starting out in order to gain control. Rodents, german roaches, fleas and bed bugs may have set up shop at your home and these issues may require special attention and we may not be able to fully grasp the full situation that you are dealing with over the phone. When we come out we will also point out areas of concern that may require your attention. We will provide you with a clear plan of action that will solve your pest problem. Also wouldn’t you like to meet us face to face before you hire us?
WHY SHOULD I HIRE A PEST CONTROL PROFESSIONAL?
You are most likely reading this because you have tried to solve the issue yourself and have had trouble doing so. When you partner with a true pest professional you will have your pest issues solved quickly and you no longer will need to spend time or energy attempting to control the bugs and will be able to spend your time doing things you enjoy.
CAN I SPRAY OVER THE COUNTER PRODUCTS TO GET RID OF MY PEST ISSUES?
Applying an over the counter products can be effective on certain pests, however, inexperience in using over the counter products can be dangerous to children, pets, and adults if used improperly. Also as an Associate Certified Entomologist, I understand the biology and habits of these various pests and I would not dare use those products for many of the major pests that they advertise for. Many of these products will give you a false sense of security that they will handle your pest problem when at best they will simply mask an issue for a moment, only to have it pop back up, days or weeks later. There are however some great uses for over the counter products when they are used the correct way for specific situations, stay tuned to my youtube channel and blog as I plan to release some DIY info for certain pests, as well as expose the limitaitons of over the counter products.
IS PEST CONTROL SAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND PETS?
Byrd Pest Control has your families safety as our primary concern as well as our environment’s well being. We only use Natural, Organic and Reduced Risk products inside the living spaces of your home. It has been proven that pesticide residuals inside the home will last over 40+ years and particulates from those pesticides are affecting the air quality of the home and do not break down in the same way that they do on the outside of the home. What breaks a product down is UV rays from the sun, and inside the home, those UV rays are very limited allowing pesticides to last a very long time. This is why we are absolutely committed to only using products and methods inside on the inside of the home that will keep the air quality at its best. All the products and methods that we use are approved by the EPA and the state of California and our team members are licensed professionals who are trained in the safe usage, handling and application of all our products.
CAN I TRUST YOUR PEST PROFESSIONALS AROUND MY HOME AND FAMILY?
Yes! Our team members are not only background checked through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and through the FBI but we also only hire people who have a proven character but are men and women who are caring family oriented people. Check out our About Us page and get to know us. All Technicians do on-the-job training for a minimum of 2 months and must pass the state of Californa applicators exam before they are ever allowed to go out on their own. You can rest assured that a true professional will be working in and around your home. You will be able to tell immediately that our team really cares.
DO I HAVE TO LEAVE MY HOME WHEN YOU SERVICE?
This all depends on the type of service we will be performing. If we are treating for ants you will not need to leave the home, however, if we are treating for spiders, fleas, german roaches or bedbugs then you will need to leave the home. We will let you know well ahead of time with any pest issue what to expect.
HOW SOON BEFORE I CAN EXPECT THE BUGS TO BE GONE?
Immediately you will see a huge reduction in the pest population we will have wiped out every pest that we were able to treat directly. Over the next 18-24 days, you will notice dead pests showing up. This is because the pests have either come out of hiding in an area where our products may not be able to reach, or they are newly hatched pests who have not come across the products yet, or they are from a neighboring property and they have walked over to your freshly treated yard, came across our products and then dispatched accordingly.
WILL I STILL SEE A PEST AFTER STARTING PEST CONROL WITH YOU?
Initially, you may see many bugs that are dying off or dead in the first 18-25 days. If your home is sealed up well then the majority of the pests will simply die off outside, however, if your home has gaps that are allowing the pests entry then you may experience an influx of bugs dying inside. After that, you may see an occasional pest slip through into the house and if so, you can rest assured their days are numbered since they had to have come across our products to make it that far and will soon be feeling the effects. You may occasionally see a random pest, but it will be a rare sight.
HOW IMPORTANT IS A YEAR-ROUND SERVICE PROGRAM?
Each season brings a new wave of pests and a preventative pest control program ensures that your home is ready for the next wave of pest all year around. Our pest control service not only eliminates a pest problem, but it also makes sure that the pests never come back. Our year-round pest program not only protects you against the pest you where currently dealing with, but it also controls and other pests that may try and make their way into your home. A year-round pest program really gives peace of mind that if a pest listed under the service agreement was to show up we would handle it at no additional charge.
DO YOU REQUIRE A LONG TERM CONTRACT?
We do not require a long-term contract. We do offer one-time services however occasionally we do offer a discounted initial service for those who are willing to commit to our year-round pest control program. One-time services are a great way to get know our team!
WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCT? MATERIALS DO YOU USE AND HOW TOXIC ARE THEY?
All of the products that we use around your home are either
  • Category 3 classified, which is rated the lowest in toxicity and carries a CAUTION?PRECAUTION label
  • Reduced Risk Products – These are products that the EPA has classified “generally considered as safe”
  • FIFRA 25b – These are products that are Natural and/or Organic products that the EPA has deemed as a “minimum risk product” that includes our essential oils and desiccant products.

We also use Type 2 anti-coagulants for rodent control when we bait. These bait applications are done in such a way that secures the bait so that non-target animals will not be affected.

WHAT DOES NATURAL/ORGANIC AND REDUCED RISK MEAN?
Natural Products are products that are used in pest control that is derived directly from nature and are not fabricated in a laboratory synthetically. This category includes both materials that are organic (from a living organism) and not organic (from a non-living organism like from salts/minerals). Organic Products are products that fall under the natural category and are considered “minimum risk”  and are derived from living organisms like flowers and plants (botanical), or a bacteria (biological) which are what is used in our Natural/Organic program. Reduced Risk Products are products that have
WHAT DOES NATURAL/ORGANIC AND REDUCED RISK *DOES NOT* MEAN?
Use of these products does not mean that people may not have an allergic reaction to any of these products. In this day and age food allergies have become a consideration. Peanuts are banned from a flight when a person with a peanut allergy may be on board. Although I have not personally dealt with a person having an allergic reaction to any of my products, there is always a possibility. Use of these products does not mean that you will not smell anything. Actually, the newer synthetic products carry minimal smells, but the botanical products will have a very strong odor that will require you to air out the home afterward. Some of the products are not as bad and are pretty mild, but be aware. When we use a smellier product we will let you know.
